This is one of the nicest porter saddles I have ever seen, It is one of the last ones made before the porter company closed its doors in the 1960's A little bit of history- The Porter saddle company was started in the late 1800's by N. Porter died in 1913. The famous and desirable, 'Saguaro design” Porter saddle, with wonderful saguaro cactus and other types of cactus tooled throughout. A decorative and fine example in excellent condition with Navajo design conchos, 14' seat and 3 1/2' cantle. Provenance: From the Estate of Thomas W. Porter Saddlery and Harness Company History and Maker Marks In 1895 when Newton Porter moved to Phoenix, AZ where he established the N. Porter Saddle and Harness Company, which became one of the finest Saddleries over the next 70 years.
